Pam Burkhart, LCSW, CADC, CTS

Pam comes to Decatur Psychological after a 20 + year career in the public non-profit arena. Pam is a lifetime resident of Decatur, earning her Bachelor in Arts degree in Human Services from Millikin University in 1999 and her Masters in Social Work from Illinois State University in 2009. She has presented workshops throughout the state to many sectors on the effects of violence on children and families, Crisis Intervention and Response, Community Response to Violence, parenting and many others. She has extensive training in trauma, domestic violence, anger management in children and adults, substance abuse and family issues and spent the last 12 years of her career focused on children, violence and trauma.

Pam is certified in play therapy, substance abuse, trauma, and trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy.  She is also a certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) to complete Department Of Transportation (DOT) approved assessments for those with a CDL that require an assessment.

Debra G. Charveron MA LCPC NCC

Deb received her Bachelor of Science degree from Millikin University in 1977 and her Master of Arts degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois in 1995.

Deb has been a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1995.  She has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 2001.  Deb was University Counselor at Millikin for seven years and provided counseling services as an Employee Assistance Clinician at Chestnut Health Systems for twenty-two years.

Deb practices Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral therapy.  She addresses Depression and Anxiety, as well as concerns regarding marriage, family, divorce, parenting, grief, loss and life changes.  

Deb strives to create an atmosphere where the client has the opportunity to understand more fully and deeply the possibilities and solutions available in all circumstances.  Deb believes that the struggles we face today may help us develop the strength we will need in the future.

Robin Stapf, LCSW

Robin received her Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University in 2015 and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois in 2021. Robin is a Licensed Social Worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Robin is coming to Decatur Counseling Center with more than a decade of experience in empowering individuals as they navigate a multitude of life stressors. Her professional background includes working as a Behavioral Health Counselor for individuals involved in child welfare, substance use disorders, mental health diagnosis, and involvement in problem solving courts. Robin has also facilitated group therapy using curriculum to identify thinking and self-perception distortions.

Robin is dedicated to providing a calm environment for clients to safely connect past experiences to current behaviors. In working with clients as a team, Robin utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to challenge internal dialogue, create feelings of worthiness and grounding techniques to continue to mitigate life’s ups and downs.

Adam Hayes, APRN, PMHNP

Adam PMHNP-BC is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Millikin University in Decatur and his Master of Science in Nursing – Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner degree at Chamberlain University.

Adam enjoys working with people of all backgrounds and is currently accepting new clients age 12 – 64+. Adam utilizes an evidence-based approach to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for adults, adolescents, and children. Some of his practice specialties include (but are not limited to) depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and PTSD.

Adam’s faith informs his clinical practice by cultivating a space of unconditional compassion, non-judgmental acceptance, and unwavering hope. He views his role as a calling to serve and heal, guided by principles of empathy and respect for every person’s inherent dignity and worth in Christ Jesus. For patients who share his faith or are exploring their own spirituality, he offers a unique blend of clinical expertise and spiritual insight, helping them find strength and meaning within their beliefs during challenging times.

In Adam’s spare time he enjoys serving as one of the worship leaders at Renaissance Church in Decatur and going on walks with his Wife and his dog Zeus.
